Arianne Clément “The Art Aging” at Helsinki Photo Festival

Inspired by the humanist aspect of photography that underlies the poetic images created by the likes of Henri Cartier-Bresson, Raymond Depardon, Robert Doisneau and Willy Ronis, Arianne Clément focuses on the emotional and descriptive power that photography can have on the viewer. At the heart of her work are the people (particularly the elderly), who live on the margins of society – often forgotten, sometime abandoned – who are rarely part of the cultural part of cultural and media landscape. With her lens, Arianne Clément highlights their humanity, their beauty and a little bit of their history.

Helsinki Photo Festival presents solo popup exhibition of Canadian photographer Arianne Clément “The Art of Aging” at Gallery Futura in the West Terminal 1 in Jätkäsaari from January 12-30, 2023. The exhibition was produced for Helsinki Photo Festival 2022 and showcased first in Helsinki’s Cultural Center Stoa from June 28-August 14, 2022. Also, the exhibition was part of the official program of Helsinki Pride 2022. The exhibition “The Art of Aging” by Arianne Clément is curated by Rafael Rybczynski.

Exhibition was supported by the Canadian Embassy to Finland. In 2022, Canada and Finland celebrated 75 years of diplomatic relations.
