Event Details

Solo exhibition with new works of emerging Finnish talent Svante Gullichsen is showcased in the Nordic Village at Taidepuisto (Art Park) Hanaholmen Swedish-Finnish Cultural Centre.

All images are new creations made during the winter season of 2020 in Lapland to the spring period of 2021 on the Jurmo Island and Porvoo. Gullichsen is fearless. He finds comfort in dangerous situations. It makes his body’s full alertness feel justified. He says “Murky, who knows how deep, ice cold swamp lake is a horrible place to swim in, but it’s nothing compared to the murkiness that lurks in the fear center of my brain. So I descend into the water and for a while the horrificness get’s realized in the real world and suddenly I feel better.” Gullichsen reflects much on his personal life. “Sometimes it’s necessary to take off and do something new. Seeing the world from another perspective is always good for you. I tend to spend a lot of time trying to experience new things in life – almost too much. It would sometimes be easier to feel more comfortable in an unchanging present.” Many of Svante’s works are self-portraits while a number of new masterpieces involve more participants engaging viewers in new ways to his world of art depicting his reflections on personal processes he is dealing with and what makes him feel alive being an fearless artist.
