Helsinki Photo Festival is proud to announce the opening of its fourth edition on the theme of Fearless and invites all photo enthusiasts to the opening ceremony!

The opening event of the Helsinki Photo Festival fourth edition on the theme Fearless will be held at the summer terrace of the Restaurant Plats in Hanaholmen – Swedish-Finnish Cultural Centre on Wednesday, July 7 at 4 pm. Admission to the summer terrace is free.

The event at the coastal archipelago starts at 4pm. Helsinki Photo Festival’s artistic director Rafael Rybczynski and project manager of Hanaholmen – Swedish-Finnish Cultural Centre Tiinaliisa Granholm, who will inaugurate the photo exhibition, will speak on the stage of the summer terrace.

Pioneering Finnish electro jazz artist Tapani Rinne will perform at 4:15 pm from the summer terrace. The mingle in the Hanaholmen Art Park exploring the solo
exhibition of Finnish brave talent Svante Gullichsen and the group exhibition of visual artists from Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Finland and Estonia will start
at 4:25. The restaurant and café PLATS offers finest refreshments and delicious food after 4:30pm.

Hanaholmen – Swedish-Finnish Cultural Centre serves as the host of the Nordic Village 2021 exhibition and event venue for the regional Helsinki Photo Festival.

The photo exhibition is curated by the Artistic Director of the festival and the selection was made by an international jury and is on display at the Art Park of Hanaholmen. In the Art Park the works of the most interesting new artists from the Nordic countries can be admired in the Nordic Village exhibition for 12 weeks.

The official program ends at 6.00 pm, but Hanaholmen – Swedish-Finnish Cultural Centre is accessible day and night and the summer terrace is open until 10 pm.

The event does not require pre-registration but can only accommodate a limited number of visitors at a time.

Welcome to the Hanaholmen – Swedish-Finnish Cultural Centre. Helsinki Photo Festival fourth edition will take place July 7th-September 30th, 2021.

Nordic Village is a talent platform fostered by Helsinki Photo Festival to support emerging Nordic photographers. The program includes exhibitions and educational activities with award-winning visual artists and art experts from the Nordics. Since 2018, Nordic Village has exhibited numerous photographers from Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Iceland in Helsinki and abroad.

A Nordic seminar with distinguished visual artists, gallerists, photography teachers, photo editors and book publishers will be organised on August 27, 2021.

The Nordic Village is a guest exhibition at Pelt Fotofestival 2021 in Belgium with works of Swedish photographers: Sebastian Sardi, Jenny Rova and Marcus Gustafsson. Finnish photographers: Henri Airo, Marja Saleva and Svante Gullichsen. Danish Laura Bisgaard & Andreas Haubjerg and Birgitta Steen. Norwegian Stig Marlon Weston and visual artist duo Svithaseth. Icelandic Maria Kjartans and Omar Sverrisson. Pelt Fotofestival exhibitions over 1000 photos in the streets of Pelt from June 6-September 30 2021.
